Chewy but flavorful beef round steak achieves tenderness when pounded with seasoned flour and gently simmered in a tomato sauce with green bell peppers.
This is so easy and all done in one pot! It is delicious and everyone including kids will love it! This recipe is tried and true, impossible to fail! It can also be doubled or tripled without problems, but lower the heat on the second and third batch when browning, as not to burn.

This was my favorite growing up. I was amazed when I was older and asked my mom for the recipe how EASY it is! A small amount of prep. time, a day in the slow cooker, and you'll be amazed! It sounds too simple to be good... TRUST me! This gets RAVE reviews when we make it! The amount of vegetables is only an estimate. Use as many or as few as you choose. When it's done, you will have a yummy gravy, and will have to carefully dig for the steak pieces.
Simmer round steak with tomatoes, green bell pepper, and onion on the stove top for a tender main dish.
I tried this recipe in a pressure cooker and the meat was melt-in-your mouth. 30 Minutes in a stove-top 6 qt. pressure cooker. The sauce was a bit soupy but that happens in a pressure cooker and can easily be cooked down to a more sauce-like consistency by reducing under head after you take the lid off the pressure cooker. Very reminiscent of what my mother used to make. Great served with green beans and mashed potatoes, and a super way to use a cheaper cut of meat and have it taste like a million bucks.
I have made Swiss steak before. I decided for this one I wanted to make some changes. I browned flour steak in frying pan. I put in a roaster after and added peppers, carrots, onions, mushrooms, garlic dice canned tomatoes, tomato paste ,cooking sherry, and about tsp of chilli. Put in oven for 2 hours. First night had with mash potatoes and the second night with basmati rice. Yummy!
