We love Chef John any way, but I made this for my family. 2 girls ,one hates mushrooms... and 2 boys. It was a hit! It became one for the recipe box. The biggest plus was that may daughter that hates mushrooms, asks for them every week. My 3 year old eats them up too. That ARE rather tasty!!
Made these lovely meatless meatballs and served with wholewheat spaghetti and a packet sauce that they serve with meatballs at IKEA. Made the ingredients and left in the fridge overnight. Very tasty and will definitely make again.
This is the best meat free recipe i have found! i used baby bellas, gruyere cheese and egg beaters. Next time i will veganize it with vegan parm and a flax egg. i served it with red gravy for sandwiches and also made a glaze of angry orchard hard cider, organic blackstrap molasses, soy and pink peppercorns. both were excellent!
These did not have the consistency of a meatball but the taste was very good.
Really good. Time consuming, but worth it! Cool after cooking mushrooms/onions and before adding cheese. I made the night before, no problems with them holding together. My son said they tasted just like regular meat balls! Its been so long since I've tasted the real thing, I couldn't compare. These hit the spot either way.
